Last day in Florida

On our last day in Florida Griffin got enough courage to swim on his own. Although he had on a swimvest, was holding onto a noodle and we were right by his side, he was still pretty excited!

Archies

For Shell, Derek and Gavin's last night in FL we decided to go out to eat at Archies. They left this morning and we miss them so much already. Getting to spend a week together with our whole family has been so much fun.

We are having an amazing time with friends and family in Hutchinson this week. The weather has been gorgeous (a little too much for me since I'm toasty now). We have been relaxing, swimming, fishing, sleeping, eating, drinking, talking, watching soccer, building sand castles, going out to eat... but best of all we are together as a family and we couldn't ask for more :)

Vacation of Firsts

Annabel giggled a couple times before we left for vacation but she has full out belly laughed many times since we have been here. Also, she rolled over for the first time today at 14 weeks old. We love our happy little girl.

First day in Florida was perfect. We have a total pool/beach/water freak on our hands and Father's Day couldn't have been better.

Lazy Sunday

We have had a lazy Sunday here at the Lyons' house. Annabel discovered how to grab her toes and is actually pretty close to bringing them to her mouth & Griffin decided an afternoon nap is best spent on dad's shoulders.

ABC's

Griffin has started singing his alphabet and as a literacy support teacher I couldn't be more proud. We need to work on getting past the letter "v" as you can tell. Once G turned two he has really taken off (using the potty for the first time, singing his "abc"s), yet it comes at the expense of what some might call the "terrible twos". Whining & crying for no reason are daily occurrences as he is trying out his newly found independence. If he wasn't so genuinely sweet and loving it would make these times a lot rougher!

Potty Time!

Yesterday as I was getting Griffin ready for a bath, he was naked in the bathroom while I was getting out his pajamas. Next thing I know I look in the bathroom and he is on his tiptoes, trying to pee in the toilet. I freaked out, grabbed the stool, put him on it and he peed in the toilet. We gave him sooooooo much praise and he couldn't have been more proud of himself, saying "pee pee on the potty". He did it without me asking him to and since then every time I ask he tells me "no", however that is his favorite word right now. I think some formal training might start later this summer but it was exciting that he did it for the first time :)

New Discovery

Annabel has recently discovered her ability to put things in her mouth. She doesn't necessarily grab for things yet but if something finds it way into her hands it will also find its way into her mouth. Whether it is my clothes, her clothes, my hands, her hands or recently...toys.
